The mission of the Centre for Research in Mathematics and Science Education (CRiMSE) is, through research and its applications, to provide leadership in the enhancement of the learning and teaching of mathematics and science.
CRiMSE aims to fulfil its mission by
- carrying out basic and applied research on how students learn
- applying research findings in the local and national community
- developing and supporting a community of researchers and research students
- actively supporting quality learning and teaching

Latest news
- In November 2009, a CRiMSE Review Committee recommended that, after A/Prof Mitchelmore's appointment as Director expired in December 2009, a new Director be appointed from among the full-time academic staff of the Department of Education.
- In December 2009, the Department decided to expand CRiMSE to include all educational applications of ICT. It was proposed that the new centre be called CRIMSE (Centre for Research in ICT, Mathematics and Science Education).
- As at 8 February 2010, no action had been taken on either of these proposals.
